About Scout Dragon
Our Mission
The mission of ScoutDragon is to provide the complete data, content, and scouting information for Asian baseball.
ScoutDragon initially started as a baseball research project by a group of baseball enthusiasts including writers, agents, scouts, fans, fantasy owners, and even former players. This group realized a need for original English content, data, and research on baseball players in Asia.
Today, ScoutDragon is the definitive English language Asian baseball research and scouting website. ScoutDragon puts information at the finger tips of GMs, scouts, agents, players, or anyone in an organization looking for information on players in Asia.

Michael Westbay
Originally from California’s Central Valley (middle of nowhere), Michael’s interest in Japan began when his family moved to Japan while he was in high school in the early 1980s. After a stint at Yokohama National University as an exchange student in the late 1990s, Michael graduated from San Diego State University with a job lined up at a Japanese company working with databases in 1991 and has been in Japan ever since.
Looking for interesting ways to work with databases, Michael started entering players from the player registries into a MySQL database in 1995. This database, through a couple of ports to XML then to PostgreSQL, was the core of what eventually became ScoutDragon.
Glenn Davies
Although born and raised in the cricket and rugby hotbed of New Zealand, an interest in all things Japanese led to a move to Japan in 1997. Living and working in Japan, Glenn quickly became enamored with Japanese baseball and its passionate fans. The interest spread to an obsession with translating the latest Japanese season and player guides while following all forms of Japanese sports media.
A desire to get more English content out on the web led to regular contributions on Japanese baseball for The BaseballGuru.com. This developed into a further role providing daily game previews on NPB to an online sports betting site in Australia and a few self-published books on Foreign players in Japanese baseball (1990-2019).
30 years on, and still in Japan, Glenn’s interest in all things Japanese baseball remains unchanged as he works to contribute to ScoutDragon.com and its in-depth English coverage.
